Like so many, I have been fascinated with the occupation going on in New York City. The lack of media coverage has been countered by a strong grassroots presence online. It’s not too difficult to imagine yourself as part of the 99% because you are. I am.
I released the teaser for this print last week and it has since spread in viral fashion. It has come to my attention that many have passed the image along as a straight up photograph of the event. It is not. What you see is my vision of a “virtual turnout.” It is all of the people that showed up online. It’s you, it’s me it’s them, it’s the 99 percent.
